Mrauk-U

Mrauk-U, in Rakhine (Arakan) State is also known by other name Mrohaung, means ‘Old City’. This 15th century ancient city of Rakhine Kingdom is known for its old temples with wall paintings of Indian cultural influence.

Getting there to Mrauk-U

Though there is no direct flight to Mrauk-U, you can get to the nearest airport Sittwe by flight. There use to have flights 3 times a week from Yangon to Sittwe. Then you can have a boat from Sittwe to Mrauk-U.

Dukkhan Thein Pagoda

mraukuThe pagoda was built in the late of 16th century. This massive stone temple has spiraling corridor runnin in two tiers, leading to an inner chamber. The corridor has 146 niches set along its length, with stone images within.
